Coronary Heart Disease

Coronary heart disease is the narrowing or blockage of the coronary arteries, usually caused by atherosclerosis.

Once an artery is blocked, the tissue it supplies will lack of oxygen and will be severely damaged or die This can cause chest pain called angina

If thrombosis occurs in a coronary artery (coronary thrombosis),the blood supply to a portion of the heart muscle is cut off entirely. The energy demands of heart become much greater than its blood supply, thus  a ‘heart attack’ may occur. The medical term used for a heart attack is
myocardial infarction.
